About the Course

This is a Beginner/Intermediate Jazz class that will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Street, and Contemporary to help develop a well-rounded dancer. The class curriculum is based on a ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Students will develop and demonstrate applied principles of anatomy, dance terms, and
technique to initiate movement and insure safe use of the body. The students will refine all main dance technique areas and specific dance vocabulary related to the efficient and artful use of the body instrument while in preparation for ongoing performances instilled within the dance disciplined classroom. As you gain confidence and skill, we will add levels of instruction to match your abilities and goals.
